Song Of Isis
by Carolyn Palmer
Don't take my Soul on this black night!
Put on your cloak and take your flight!
Don't steal my Soul tonight!
One more night at Heaven's Gate;
One more night, you'll have to wait;
One more night before the dawn
Will steal his breath away.
One more night, his lips on mine;
One more night to wax divine;
In his arms forever mine;
Don't steal my soul today.
You leave me drained, you leave me dead;
A crown of thorns upon my head;
You leave me nothing left to spare,
Only darkness and despair;
Don't steal my Soul tonight.
You take my breath, you take my life;
You douse the spark that gave me life;
You take the meaning out of strife;
And rob the Moon who was a wife;
If you steal the Sun which is her life;
Don't take my Soul tonight.
You kill the flame on this dark night;
She has no light with which to fight;
No flicker burns in the long twilight;
Just leave my Soul with me tonight.
Don't call my time, I am not done;
My day with him has not yet run;
Nor the wheel of time with him been spun,
For I know I'll die with his setting Sun.
My life expires without my King,
To whom I'm bound upon a ring;
The land lies fallow, the earth is dead,
If I'm to lose the one I wed.
Be kind to me my Mother Night,
Don't rob me of my sturdy Knight;
Look down with mercy you Divine,
Don't steal away this love of mine;
Be gone now Mother, take your flight;
And leave my Soul with me tonight!
Without her King, there is no Queen;
A wasted land, no longer green;
The leaves will fall, the tree lay bear;
Without here love, she will not care.
She dies with him, that is her sin,
For she who was his kith and kin.
A burning flame, a fire divine,
This noble, wanton, love of mine;
King of darkness, King of light,
King with whom I take my flight;
Into night and into day,
Into lands where none can say,
What is truth and what is lie,
For only Soul can testify;
Don't spirit mine away.
Father Day and Mother Night,
You who know the wrong and right,
Lend me one more sword with which to fight!
To save my Soul with all my might!
To save my Lover from this plight!
One more sword, I will not fail!
I'll seek for you the Holy Grail;
Restore the King, appease his Queen,
And leave them free to share their dream.
Then I promise, guarantee,
That you shall have the best from me;
With my King I shall not stray
From the path you set our way;
Re-unite us with these hands,
Whose fingers now would blight the lands.
Out of darkness, into light,
Ever turning day and night;
A midnight blue, a dawn's sweet hue,
A song of love, I offer you;
Mother, Father, of the Vine,
Resting in those Realms Divine,
This I seek and this pray,
That you shall hear me now! Today!
For only this I ask of Thee,
Allow my Soul to stay with me!
To His Queen, the King returns,
Do not destroy the flame that burns;
Re-unite them, set them free,
To live in love eternally.
