Narrow Earth
by steviebomb

She walks the cold road alone.
Only the fog rises to meet her.
The bitter wind is but a small nuisance.
The real pain lies within.

She looks beyond...beyond the night and the pain.
Living in her own world is not easy.
Not many friends there.
Not much of anything.

The feeling is not new.
It came from long ago
When gods played out their ancient roles.
But now, it is time to stop.

Dropped to her knees now,
Staring into the night,
Two cold eyes meet her.
Only a reflection.

There's a warm home somewhere.
And a heart just as tender.
Full of a younger love,
She walks the cold road alone.
