A Shell of Air Surrounds
by Derek Scefonas

A shell of Air surrounds
the condemned world
which affirms the absence
Shaded in white
A solid ring of space
Born of fear
in dawning solitude
The weaker end

Making a hole in the sea hesitating between being
and dissolving
A stone from a cliff,
tossed,
rings expanding,
spiraling,
like the language of Pharaoh

Exploding in suffusion’s foil

An ocean beyond oceans
offering the star some salt
the unfolding waves reveal
the invisible, the neu-t-real

Indifference of actuality
A bit of light filters
listening with suspense
The void, irrigated with Blood
